World Mental Health Day 2023

World Mental Health Day: Why It Matters and How to Celebrate It

World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.

The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health. The day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and about what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people around the world. Provides an opportunity to talk.

Every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) organizes a global campaign for World Mental Health Day with a specific theme and a set of activities. The theme of 2023 is “Mental health is a universal human right”. The campaign aims to improve knowledge, raise awareness and advance action that promotes and protects mental health for all as a universal human right.

World Mental Health Day 2023: “Mental health is a universal human right”.

“World Mental Health Day 2023” is a day to urge everyone to take action to protect their own and others’ right to mental health. It is a day to recognize that mental health is a basic human right that everyone is entitled to, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or socio-economic status. It is also a day to demand that governments and policy makers respect, protect and fulfil this right and ensure that everyone has access to available, accessible, acceptable and good quality mental health care and support. By joining the World Mental Health Day 2023 campaign, we can show our solidarity with those living with mental health problems and advocate for their dignity and inclusion in society.

Mental health is a human right for all people. Everyone, no matter who they are or where they are, has the right to the highest attainable standard of mental health. This includes the right to be safe from mental health risks, the right to available, accessible, acceptable and good quality care, and the right to freedom, independence and inclusion in the community.

Mental health is important for our overall health and well-being. Yet globally one in eight people are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others and their livelihoods. Mental health conditions are also affecting increasing numbers of adolescents and youth.

Yet around the world, people with mental health conditions continue to face widespread human rights violations. Many are excluded from community life and discriminated against, while many cannot access the mental health care they need or only access care that violates their human rights.

WHO continues to work with its partners to ensure that mental health is valued, promoted and protected and to take urgent action so that everyone can exercise their human rights and get the quality mental health they need. To receive care.
